Matt Basch,
General Manager

Matt Basch is the General Manager of the Columbia SportsPark and SkatePark. He is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), and has been a Columbia resident for the past 15 years. Matt has worked for the Columbia Association for the past seven years. In addition to his time at CA, Matt is working toward a master’s degree in Information Systems at UMBC.  In his spare time, Matt enjoys DJ’ing at the Columbia Ice Rink, setting up computer networks and databases, and playing the drums with the UMBC Pep Band.

Barret Wessel,
Assistant Manager

Barret Wessel is the Assistant Manager for the Columbia SportsPark. He is presently a student at Howard Community College and is pursuing a degree in biochemistry with the goal of transferring to a graduate school and studying astrobiology. He plans on doing research to make the world a better place, and hopes to teach at a university when he is older. He loves the outdoors and enjoys camping and hiking in the woods. Much of his spare time is spent reading and studying books on science, nature, and politics.

Paul Monteferrante Paul Monteferrante,
Skate Program Director

Paul Monteferrante is the SkatePark program director. He is currently enrolled at UMBC. Paul has lived in Ellicott City for 20 years and began working for the SportsPark in the Summer of 2009. Outside of work, Paul enjoys skateboarding, working on cars, and playing guitar. Paul is currently a skateboard instructor for our Skate Camps, Private Lesson, and Learn to Skate programs. He has been skateboarding for 10 years and enjoys instructing local youth on skateboarding skills, as well as seeing them progress.

Mike Ecker,
SkateCamp Director

Mike Ecker is the SkateCamp Director at the Columbia SportsPark. He is currently attending Howard Community College. Mike has lived in Columbia for 15 years and started working for the Columbia Association in February 2008. In his spare time Mike likes to work on cars, play guitar, draw, and skateboard. Mike is currently a skateboard instructor for our Skate Camps, Private Lesson, and Learn to Skate programs. He has been skateboarding for six years, and has travelled to many parks along the east coast, including Camp Woodward. Mike likes to work with young skaters and see their skills progress.

Brandon Lebe,
Batting Cage Supervisor

Brandon Lebe is a Batting Cage Supervisor at the Columbia SportsPark.  As a current student at UMBC, Brandon is pursuing a degree in Music Education.  Brandon has been a resident of Columbia his entire life and started working with CA in April 2008.  In his spare time, Brandon enjoys working on cars, playing paintball and playing music.

Eric Thompson,
Batting Cage Supervisor

Eric Thompson is a Batting Cage Supervisor at the Columbia SportsPark.  As a current student at UMBC, Eric is pursuing a degree in Physics.  Eric has been a resident of Columbia his entire life and started working for CA as a lifeguard in 2005.  In his spare time, Eric enjoys playing paintball, working on his car, and practicing photography.

Paul Wetzstein,
SportsPark Supervisor

Paul Wetzstein is a Supervisor at the Columbia SportsPark. He has been working for the Columbia Association since 2006. He is a current student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Most of Paul's free time is spent listening to music, playing various instruments, reading, watching movies, and indulging in random acts of spontaneity. He also loves the outdoors and traveling.

  Ethan Kirshenbaum,
SportsPark Supervisor

Ethan Kirshenbaum is a Supervisor at the Columbia SportsPark. He is currently attending The University of Maryland College Park. Ethan was born and raised in Maryland and started working for the Columbia Association in July 2006. In his spare time Ethan likes to hang out with friends, watch movies, and relax. Ethan enjoys going to work because it means that it is summertime. He also enjoys keeping customers happy!
