Learn to Skate
Group Skateboarding Lessons at the Columbia SkatePark!

The goal of the Learn to Skateboard Program is to help introduce beginning skaters to the fundamentals of aggressive skateboarding, in a safe and fun
environment. Our classes are taught by highly experienced Skateboard instructors who love the sport. Lessons are offered weekly in 55 minute sessions
for 4 weeks. Class sizes are small and typically do not exceed a 1:6 instructor/ student ratio. A signed waiver form is required for all participants. Click here to download it.

Beginner Classes:
Skateboard 1 (ages 6 through Adult).
This class is perfect for the person who is just learning to ride their first skateboard,or who still needs work perfecting their board control. Safety is a main focus of this class, with an emphasis on how to properly wear protective gear (helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads), proper foot placement, and how to safely fall. Additionally, skaters will learn the fundamentals of how to push, turn, and stop. Skateboard 1 will also introduce skaters to carving techniques, rolling into transitions, and pumping. This class may be repeated to perfect the fundamental before moving to Skateboard 2 or SkateCamp. This will be determined by a Skateboarding test on the last day of group lessons.
Skateboard 2 (ages 6 through Adult who have passed Skateboard 1).
This class is geared toward the advanced beginner skater. The main focus of this class is to introduce skaters to the fundamentals of street and ramp skating, including dropping in on ramps and grinding rails. Beginning grinding concepts,
board slides and curb tricks will also be introduced. This class may be repeated to perfect advanced fundamentals.
Advance Class:
Special Topics classes will be offered during summer sessions.
